SSI to Venture Online with the Total Entertainment Network

Strategic Simulations, Inc. will provide upcoming game content

SAN FRANCISCOSeptember 8, 1995The Total Entertainment Network (TEN) today announced an agreement with Strategic Simulations, Inc. (SSI), the longtime publisher of role-playing and strategy/wargames.  SSI, a Mindscape company, will provide TEN with game content including a high profile title for exclusive use online.

The Total Entertainment Network will be working with companies such as SSI to integrate brand-name PC games into its online community.  "TEN strikes us as a strong player in the online industry," said Joel Billings, president of SSI.  "We admire their aggressive approach and look forward to a winning relationship.  As a game developer, we're going to have a lot of fun with TEN."

Best recognized for its fantasy role-playing adaptations, SSI has-been a prominent developer of PC games for over a decade.  "SSI's content has always been multi-player in nature," said Daniel Goldman, president of TEN.  "Their upcoming games will be well-suited for online play.  TEN will provide the social environment in which they can thrive."

The Total Entertainment Network is a next generation online service offering cutting-edge interactive entertainment.  On TEN, participants can play hit computer games while having access to creative tools, editorial commentary, and the Internet.  TEN's comprehensive SDK is now being used by leading publishers to bring their content online.  TEN's network employs low-latency protocols and can be accessed through the Internet and nationwide dial-up sites.  The software will be available initially for Windows 95 and later for the Macintosh.
